School Lunches

Please find here the weekly Menus for the school meals our children enjoy each day. Although the Menu may occasionally be subject to change, it does tell you what the children are being offered each day and allow you time to discuss this with your child. The Menu sets out the main meal, the vegetarian option for the main meal, the side and pudding available each day. As well as this, there are Jacket potatoes with Beans or Cheese, Homemade Bread and a Selection of Salads and Fresh Fruits available each day and throughout the service.

Staff & our volunteers are offered a free lunch each day in return for dining with the children. We find that there is a high uptake of meals among our staff and volunteers. Having so many staff dine with the children really supports their development of social skills and encourages polite conversation. With so many staff taking up a lunch each day, the standards for pupil behaviour is also excellent. We are a model school in terms of school food, with other schools coming along to look at our food, service delivery, dining environment and we have also helped them to think about standards within their own school. The inspector at our recent Ofsted visit commented on how great it was to see older pupils helping the younger children to use their cutlery correctly. They can also gain a job as a ‘Pupil Waiter’ and help to run the school restaurant with support from the lunchtime staff.

We are also really glad that the Mayor of London has offered to make lunches free for all Primary children in London for this academic year - and next! With so many impacted by the cost of living, this is a really popular policy.

Where possible our ingredients are organic and sourced locally, or even grown in our allotment and school garden. Charlton Manor is proud to be supplied with fruit and vegetables by The Village Greengrocer. This is a local business based nearby in Charlton Village.
