Choir

Glee Club is the name of our school choir, led by Mrs. Goold.

Glee Club meet weekly to learn and rehearse new songs and even a few dance routines!

So far this school year we have performed across our local community including Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Hyder Court Care home and Asda Charlton.

We also have the pleasure of welcoming residents from Hyder Court to join some of our Glee Club for lunch in our school restaurant.

Glee Club thoroughly enjoyed their trip to see Matilda in the West End, which was part of our exciting build up to the Young Voices 2024 concert where the children performed in the O2 arena.

An amazing time was had by all and we can’t wait to sign up again for next year.

Moving forward the Glee Club will be learning new songs, attending more community events and another exciting West End production, not forgetting headlining our annual talent show.

Festive school visits to LGT

Children bring joy to our patients

Children and young people from local schools visited LGT last week to bring some early festive cheer to our elderly patients at QEH and UHL. The students from Charlton Manor Primary School, St Mary’s Lewisham CE Primary School, and St Thomas More Catholic Comprehensive School sang carols to our patients and colleagues before donating gifts and Christmas cards to the elderly wards.

Lorraine Hassan, Dementia Specialist Nurse at UHL said:

“Another wonderful visit from St Mary's Lewisham CE Primary School. It was lovely to have the children perform on the elderly wards again and lots of our patients were able to come out of their bays to sit and join in. I could tell they were excited by the emotions on their faces. It was a reminder that music can do so much for our patients and colleagues. So thank you again for visiting us and wishing you a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year.”

Young Voices 2023

This year, 19 children from our choir attended Young voices, a huge choir event with over 7000 children participating from schools all over the country. Our choir attended the O2 event on 18th January.

We are so proud of our choir’s hard work at learning the songs and routines as well as their bravery to sing with thousands of other children in the O2.

A huge thank you to our parent choir leader, Tanya and our staff supporters Mrs Anand and Mrs Paton for facilitating this enrichment experience.
